When Silence Became My Protection

A reflection on emotional safety

In the last few years, I’ve noticed how much I pause before responding to people.

Not because my voice doesn’t matter.

Not because I don’t have something to say.

But because I’m learning where my voice feels safe, respected, and aligned.

There was a time I felt the need to respond to everything.

To explain.

To engage.

To correct.

But not every situation requires your voice.

Healing taught me that silence can be protection.

Not avoidance.

Not weakness.

But awareness.

Knowing when something doesn’t deserve your energy.

And choosing not to engage.

That shift changed everything.
